DAY 13: 40 miles.
We quietly began to put our tents down before the sun came up in order to get to the ferry on time. 5 AM felt far too early to get up! We pedaled the 22 miles to the port with relative ease, even stopping for a quick breakfast in the centre of St Malo. Everyone caught up on some sleep on the crossing to Portsmouth - in truth we are all pretty tired now. After nearly 1000 miles of cycling I am looking forward to resting my legs and swapping my roll mat for a comfortable bed! Upon arrival in Portsmouth we swiftly biked the 18 miles to the South Downs and made camp in South Harting. We were welcomed into the with a fabulous cold beer (thanks Hannah!) and we then had a takeaway curry before crashing out on the Scout Hut floor in our sleeping bags! Tomorrow we reach journey's end - we have overcome much adversity since we began climbing the into the Pyrenees almost two weeks ago. We will be elated to cross the finish line in sunny Sussex!
